SEATTLE ─ The Coast Guard, National Response Corporation Environmental Services, and Global Diving and Salvage, and Washington State Department of Ecology are coordinating the pollution mitigation and salvage of the 59-foot fishing vessel, Clam Digger, today.

An air crew from Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., conducted an over flight this morning with no reports of sheen or pollution.

Pending weather and water current conditions, divers are scheduled to commence rigging the Clam Digger for removal at approximately 3 p.m. when a slack tide may provide a short window of conditions where water currents allow for safe diving.

Water currents may restrict dive operations and rigging of the vessel may take more than one slack tide to complete.  Once rigging is complete, the Clam Digger will be lifted to the waterline and pumped free of flood water and towed to Lovric Sea-Craft's dry dock.  Culbertson Marine's crane barge will be on site to perform the lift.

NRCES will have response personnel on site during the evolution in case of a pollution release.

Osprey remains on scene until further notice.

Ecology is bringing a mobile command vehicle to Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes, Wash., where an Incident Command Post will be established.

The Coast Guard responded to a mayday call after Clam Digger began taking on water, Wednesday. To see original release, click here.

Cause of incident is under investigation.
