Air Station Los Angeles launched a HH-65 Dolphin helicopter about 10:25 a.m., with a flight surgeon onboard to pick up the girl and her father from the island. The helicopter crew picked up the pair and safely flew them to Long Beach Memorial Hospital at around 11:15 a.m. The transport has been deemed necessary for the girl to receive further medical treatment not available on Catalina Island.
The Coast Guard received the medevac request because other air assets are unable to respond due to poor visibility and heavy fog.
