Coast Guard Sector Juneau to hold change of command in Juneau, Alaska

KODIAK, Alaska — Capt. Shannan D. Greene will relieve Capt. Scott W. Bornemann as commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector Juneau during a formal ceremony at Centennial Hall Friday at 10 a.m.

Bornemann, who has commanded Sector Juneau since June 2011, will become the Coast Guard 17th District’s chief of prevention following the ceremony.

Greene is reporting to Sector Juneau after serving as the Coast Guard 1st District deputy chief of incident management in Boston, Mass. During her tenure, she was responsible for coordinating incident management execution across the district. Her area of responsibility spanned from Northern New Jersey to the Canadian border, included eight states, more than 2,000 miles of shoreline and reached 1,300 miles offshore.

Greene’s education achievement includes a master’s degree in telecommunications, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems, and extensive national incident management system experience.

Her personal awards include the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal, four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals, and the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation.
