ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — The Coast Guard is continuing to work with Volusia County Sheriff's Office, New Smyrna Beach Police Department and Edgewater Police Department to locate a Coast Guardsman who was last seen jogging Wednesday morning.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Johnnie Walton, 37, was on duty at Coast Guard Station Ponce De Leon Inlet in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, when he disappeared while exercising off base.

Walton was expected to return to Station Ponce Inlet for his official duties and emergency response.

"Our primary concern is for the safety and well being of our members," said Cmdr. Brian Rush, Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville response department head. "We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement in the search for Petty Officer Walton."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coast Guard Seventh District Command Center at 305-415-6800 or local law enforcement.

Media inquiries should be directed to Petty Officer 1st Class Lauren Jorgensen at 305-318-1864 or Lt. Cmdr. Gabe Somma, Seventh District Public Affairs Officer, at 786-385-2642.
