MIAMI — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a man who’s boat was found partially submerged seven nautical miles northeast of Molasses Reef, Monday afternoon.
Missing is Noah Cullen, 24, from Islamorada, Florida.
Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders were notified by a good Samaritan reporting the 28-foot sailing vessel, Jubilee, was unmanned, adrift and riding low in the water. Shortly after, watchstanders contacted his family and learned that he was reported overdue.
Sector Key West watchstanders issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast asking local mariners to keep a sharp lookout for Cullen. The Coast Guard also launched multiple air and sea assets including:
- Coast Guard Air Station Islamorada smallboat crews
- Coast Guard Cutter Sawfish
- Coast Guard Cutter Paul Clark
- Air Station Clearwater C-130 Hercules aircraft crew
- Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew
- Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft crew
Coast Guard crews searched for more than 90 hours covering approximately 5,277 square nautical miles.
"Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Cullen during this difficult time," said Sean Connett, Coast Guard 7th District command center command duty officer.
Local agencies, family and good Samaritans also took part in the search.
