NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard and St. Charles Sheriff's Office rescued two people in the Bonnet Carre Spillway, at 7 p.m., Monday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's office at 6:30 p.m., that two people were clinging to a cooler in the Bonnet Carre Spillway after their boat capsized when it was hit by a wave.
A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and a small boat crew from Coast Guard Station New Orleans were deployed to the scene.
The helicopter crew safely hoisted one person from the water and flew him back to Air Station New Orleans.
The St. Charles Sheriff's Office boat crew recovered the other person in the water.
No injuries were reported.
