NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard continues to search for two missing shrimpers south of Southwest Pass, Wednesday.
Coast Guard crews from Station Venice, Air Station New Orleans, Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama, have searched 1,288 square miles in 13 hours since Tuesday evening.
Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector New Orleans command center received notification from an offshore rig reporting a capsized shrimping vessel at 4 p.m., Tuesday. The reporting source stated two people were rescued by the Good Samaritan vessel Miss Anna crew from the keel of the 75-foot shrimping vessel Christopher's Joy.
Response crews were directed to launch in search of the missing crewmembers.
