ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 29-year-old man was medevaced by the Coast Guard from a commercial fishing vessel in Longboat Pass near Sarasota, Florida Saturday.
A crewmember, aboard the Rachelle J Belle contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg via VHF-FM channel 16 reporting a crewmember was experiencing flu like symptoms.
A Coast Guard flight surgeon was notified and recommended the man be medevaced.
A 29-foot Response Boat—Small II crew from Coast Guard Station Cortez, Florida, arrived on scene, medevaced the man and transported him to the Coquina Boat Ramp in Sarasota where he was transported to emergency medical personnel for further treatment.
