PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching Wednesday for a missing man in the Elizabeth River in the vicinity of High Street Landing in Portsmouth.
Portsmouth 911 dispatch operators contacted Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads Command Center watchstanders at approximately 12 p.m. to report that a man was seen jumping into the river.
Sector watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and dispatched crews aboard a 25-foot Response Boat-Small from Coast Guard Station Portsmouth.
Also involved in the search are personnel from the Portsmouth Police Department.
