BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a fisherman after a vessel capsized approximately 2 miles north of Provincetown, Mass., at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England received a call from the lobster boat Glutton, reporting that the 42-foot fishing vessel Twinlights, with two fishermen aboard, had capsized after becoming entangled in fishing gear.

Fishermen aboard the Glutton were able to rescue one crewmember.

Searching for the missing fisherman are crewmembers from:

  • Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., rescue helicopter
  • Coast Guard Station Provincetown
  • Coast Guard Cutter Spencer
  • Coast Guard Cutter Grand Isle
  • Massachusetts State Police divers

"It's important that we've directed the launch of these multiple units to search for the fisherman." said Petty Officer 1st Class Clinton Dotson, operational unit controller at the 1st Coast Guard District in Boston. "We need to try and keep the area clear of any uneccessary vessels and to have as many eyes on the water as we can."

The incident is under investigation.
