JUNEAU, Alaska — Coast Guard Sector Juneau and Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation personnel continue to oversee cleanup efforts of a petroleum product spill at the Auke Bay Harbor, Tuesday.
Coast Guard, ADEC and Southeast Alaska Lighterage continue to deploy boom and absorbent pads to recover the petroleum product. Alaska Department of Fish and Game and National Marine Fisheries Service assessed the wildlife in the area and determined that there was no substantial threat.
"We are working closely with our agency partners and the contractor to efficiently and effectively manage this incident," said Lt. Mickey Sanders, Coast Guard Sector Juneau, Chief of Incident Management Division. "We are encouraging mariners with any information about this spill to give call us."
Vessel owners impacted by the spill should contact Coast Guard Sector Juneau at (907) 463-2990 to arrange for gross residue decontamination.
The cause of the spill is under investigation.
