PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Coast Guard has permanently relocated the Coast Guard Cutter Seahawk and its crew to Panama City, Nov. 9.
The Coast Guard has relocated the 15-manned cutter crew from Carrabelle and is scheduled to hold an official welcoming ceremony for the cutter and crew. The cutter crew will continue to patrol the Gulf of Mexico and provide search-and-rescue assistance to the Gulf Coast.
“We anticipate welcoming the Seahawk crew during a ceremony early February once the permanent office building is completed,” said Lt. j.g. Timothy Williams, public affairs officer for Coast Guard Sector Mobile. “Since the cutter and crew are now co-located with Coast Guard Station Panama City and other Coast Guard units, it will greatly improve the cutters logistical support and enhance its overall operational effectiveness.”
