BOSTON — The Coast Guard, along with state and local partners, have found the two missing individuals involved in a search and rescue case Wednesday.
Local authorities relayed to Coast Guard rescue crews that the two people had been safely located on shore.
Police from Biddeford, Maine notified the Sector Northern New England Command Center in Portland, Maine early Wednesday after receiving a report about two missing people at the mouth of the river, near the University of New England Campus.
A Coast Guard Station South Portland rescue crew using a 25-foot Response Boat Small, an Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts air crew with an MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter, Saco Fire Department Marine 5, and the Maine Marine Patrol were involved in the search.
"We would like to thank our local and state partners in this search," said Lt. David T. Bourbeau, the assistant public affairs officer at Sector Northern New England. "The media played a vital role in this, and we thank them for getting the word out so these two could be brought home safe."
Sector Northern New England covers the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Eastern New York.
