Elizabeth City, N.C. — Elizabeth City was officially declared a Coast Guard City Friday during a ceremony at the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City.

Adm. Paul F. Zukunft, the 25th commandant of the Coast Guard, presided over ceremony, which was attended by community and Coast Guard members.

A Coast Guard City is a designation awarded to select cities that made special efforts to acknowledge the professional work of the Coast Guard men and women assigned to their area.  Making Coast Guard men and women and their families feel at home is an invaluable contribution to morale and service excellence.
