PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard suspended its search Thursday for a man who was reported overdue while aboard a 15-foot zodiac boat near Wanchese, N.C., Jan. 31.
A concerned friend contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet in Nags Head, N.C., at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and reported the missing man's vehicle had been left at the Mill Landing Road Boat Ramp in Wanchese since Jan. 31.
Dare County Sherriff's office located the missing man's wallet and driver's license in the vehicle.
Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders issued urgent marine information broadcasts and had dispatched crews aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft - Shallow Water from Station Oregon Inlet.
