Coast Guard medevacs ailing crewman

SAN DIEGO — An aircrew from U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego airlifted a possible heart attack victim from a ship 50 miles southwest of San Diego, Tuesday afternoon.

The crew of the USNS Waters contacted the Coast Guard at 2:20 p.m., requesting a medevac for a 66-year-old crewman who was experiencing symptoms of a possible heart attack.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Sector San Diego to perform the medevac.

Once on scene, the man was hoisted into the aircraft and transported to Sector San Diego. The man was turned over to emergency medical personnel at approximately 4 p.m.
