BOSTON — Coast Guard rescue crews pulled a man from the water near East Passage in Narragansett Bay, R.I., Sunday.

Watchstanders at Sector Southeastern New England received notification through a 911 call from a Good Samaritan at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Jamestown Fire Department was on scene and used radio contact to help the rescue crews locate the man. Coast Guard Station Castle Hill launched a 45-foot Response Boat Medium at approximately 4:30 p.m. and safely recovered the 30-year-old man. The crew safely transferred the man to Jamestown Fire Department for further transport to Newport Hospital in Rhode Island.

"A good assessment by the Sector as well as a quick response by the station helped save this man's life," said Petty Officer 1st Class Seth Caron, the operational unit controller at Sector Southeastern New England.
