MIAMI— A survivor from a recent Coast Guard search and rescue case visited Coast Guard Air Station Miami Wednesday to thank the crew who assisted in his rescue.
Jordan Hanssen, 29, was rescued by Coast Guard crews and a good Samaritan April 6, 2013.
Hanssen was on the 73rd day of an estimated 100-day voyage that originated in Dakar, Senegal and would finalize in Miami, when his journey ended abruptly and he and his crew were forced to embark thier row boat’s emergency life raft.

This rescue serves as a reminder that boating season is just around the corner and all boaters should practice maritime safety measures while out on the water.
