Coast Guard searching for possible missing person in the water near Bridgeport, Conn.

The Coast Guard received a call from a sailing vessel reporting a partially submerged kayak just east of Stratford Shoal Middle Ground Sunday, at approximately 10 a.m.

A 45-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station New Haven, Conn., arrived on scene and took possession of the 17-foot camouflage kayak, Eagle Run 12.

Station New Haven along with a 45-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Eaton’s Neck, a HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., Coast Guard Auxiliary, Bridgeport Police Department, Suffolk County Police Department and Fairfield Fire Department all assisted in the search.
