MOBILE, Ala. - The Coast Guard Exchange at Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile re-opened following a six-month renovation project Wednesday.

The exchange re-opened at 10 a.m., following a dedication ceremony with Rear Adm. David Callahan, commander of Coast Guard Personnel Service Center, as the presiding official.

The renovation cost $1.8 million and 11 new employees were hired from the local area.

The newly renovated exchange will offer an expanded selection of all apparel departments including cosmetics, jewelry, and a new shoe department.  A seasonal department has been added and the uniform department will become a focal point to include a tactical shop.

The mission of the Coast Guard Exchange is to provide quality merchandise and convenience to Coast Guard men and women as well as authorized patrons at competitive prices.

As a support organization within the Community Services Command of the Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Exchange operates more than 60 exchanges throughout the nation including Puerto Rico. Income generated by the resale operation is used to provide the Coast Guard with supplemental funding to the service's Morale, Well-being and Recreation program.
