NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Society of African-American Professionals is scheduled to host the 7th Annual Male Teen Summit from June 20-23 at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
The Teen Summit is designed for African-American teens to develop a nationwide network that promotes productive lifestyles, career paths and goal setting with adult and young adult African-American males. Various chapters of the Boys and Girls Club of America from across the country will be in attendance including: Kansas City, Chicago, Hartford, Milwaukee and Northwest Indiana.
Jim Clark, the 11th president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of America will be the keynote speaker on Friday, June 21, and will attend events throughout the day. Dr. Calvin Mackie, nationally known motivational speaker, and U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Rob Smith, 2013 BGCA National Hall of Fame inductee, will also attend as mentors and motivational speakers.
The attendees will also have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Academy, and the opportunities available to cadets and graduates.
