CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 19-year-old woman from a vessel on the Detroit River Sunday morning.
Her name and hometown are not being released, and there is no Coast Guard imagery.
At 1:03 a.m., a Coast Guard Station Belle Isle, Mich., law enforcement crew was conducting a safety boarding on a 20-foot recreational vessel when they noticed one of the five people aboard, a 19-year-old woman, was unconscious and unresponsive with a faint pulse.
The Coast Guardsmen took the woman aboard their 25-foot Response Boat-Small and transported her to Coast Guard Sector Detroit.
Upon arrival at the sector, emergency medical services transported her via ambulance to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
Her condition is unknown at this time.
Of the remaining four people aboard the recreational vessel, the law enforcement crew determined that two underaged females had been drinking. One of the males had an open misdemeanor warrant.
The Detroit Police dispatched two officers to assist.
U.S Customs and Border Protection was also contacted due to the possibility that the vessel was stolen.
The situation remains under investigation by CBP and the Detroit PD.
The Coast Guard reminds boaters to exercise caution when recreating on the water.
