SEATTLE — Rear Adm. Richard T. Gromlich is scheduled to relieve Rear Adm. Keith A. Taylor as commander of the 13th Coast Guard District in a change-of-command ceremony at Coast Guard Base Seattle, Friday, at 11 a.m.
The change-of-command ceremony will be conducted in conjunction with Rear Adm. Taylor's formal retirement ceremony.
Vice Adm. Paul F. Zukunft, Coast Guard Pacific Area commander, will preside over the change-of-command ceremony.
U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert J. Papp, Jr. will preside over Rear Adm. Taylor's retirement.
WHO: Commander of the 13th Coast Guard District.
WHAT: Change-of-Command ceremony where Rear Adm. Gromlich will assume command from Rear Adm. Taylor. The ceremony will also include the retirement of Rear Adm. Taylor.
WHEN: Friday, June 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. Media wishing to attend should be at Base Seattle no later than 9:45 a.m.

WHY: The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored tradition which signifies a transfer of responsibility and formally restates that the continuity of command will be maintained for the 13th District. The retirement ceremony is one of the oldest traditions in the Coast Guard and will celebrate Rear. Adm. Taylor's 34-year career to service and country.
