CORRECTION **UPDATE** Coast Guard continues search for missing boater

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard is continuing the search for a man who was discovered missing when his unmanned fishing boat washed ashore in Hanna Park, Sunday evening.

Missing is Peter J. Rodrigues, 57.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville received the initial report from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office at approximately 5:45 p.m., stating that the 30-foot fishing boat Sea Witch had washed ashore without a crew, but a pair of shoes and cell phone were discovered aboard and the engines were still running. 

The Coast Guard is continuing to search with the following assets:

  • An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Clearwater
  • A 45-foot Response Boat — Medium from Station Mayport
  • The Cutter Diamondback, an 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat homeported at Station Mayport
