NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Coast Guard Academy wrestling team will welcome the Newtown Youth Wrestling Association on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
The Newtown wrestlers will battle a group of Waterford youth wrestlers in a series of exhibition matches prior to the Bears scheduled match against rival Merchant Marine at Merriman Gym.
The Coast Guard will honor the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. One of those victims Jack Pinto, was a member of the Newtown Youth Wrestling Association.
The Newtown wrestlers will have six exhibition matches against Waterford beginning at 5:45 p.m. before the Bears wrestle Merchant Marine at 7 p.m.
The Coast Guard team will wrestle at the All-Academy Championships on Saturday at Army before returning home to this event on Wednesday.
Admission for the match is free.
