The NPRFTC trains Coast Guardsmen in the procedures to enforce the rules and regulations governing fisheries in the United States exclusive economic zone thus protecting marine resources and leveling the playing field for all commercial fishermen.

Hulse recently completed a graduate study at the University of Delaware, earning a master's degree in marine policy and Sullivan, who has commanded the NPRFTC since July 2010, is departing to take command of the Coast Guard Cutter Bainbridge Island.
