MIAMI — Four people were rescued early Wednesday morning after their vessel capsized one nautical mile off Islamorada, Florida.

A good Samaritan notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West, Florida, of a capsized vessel with two adult females and two adult males in the water.

The people in the water were fishing for lobster during Florida's Lobster Mini Season when the vessel capsized.

A boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Islamorada, Florida, was diverted from it's patrol to respond. Upon arriving on scene, the boatcrew safely embarked the four survivors and transported them to Seabreeze Marina in Islamorada with no reported injuries.

The Coast Guard highly encourages mariners to practice safe boating and to take advantage of complimentary vessel safety checks provided by the Coast Guard Auxiliary, which may help prevent incidents and ensure necessary safety equipment is on board and readily available in case of emergencies.
